Kyle Busch's third place finishing car in Sunday's 5-Hour Energy 500 at Pocono raceway failed postrace inspection. Busch's Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota was found to be too low after NASCAR officials inspected it three times following Sunday's race.

Busch's left front was too low and NASCAR will take the car back to its R&D Center in Concord, N.C. While he will be allowed to keep his third place finish a fine and points penalty will more than likely be assessed.

"It's the last thing I expected -- I have as many questions as you," said crew chief Dave Rogers.

Kyle Busch fails Pocono post race inspection

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR has penalized the No. 18 team in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series as a result of rule infractions discovered during post-race inspection Sunday at Pocono Raceway.

The No. 18 car was found to be in violation of Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4-J (any determination by NASCAR officials that race equipment used in the event does not conform to NASCAR rules); and 20-12.8.1B (body height requirements -- car failed to meet the minimum front car heights) of the 2011 NASCAR rule book.

As a result, crew chief Dave Rogers has been fined $25,000, while owner Joe Gibbs and driver have been penalized with the loss of six championship owner and six championship driver points, respectively.

The car passed pre-race inspection right?  What changed?  Logic is dead unfortunately, and emotion rules.  Sad.
Plenty of things change during the course of a race.  Pit crews get to mess with the car several times during the course of a race and can go a little too far on adjustments.  Also it should be noted that pre race and post race inspections don't check the same things.  Nascar themselves had said this to answer past occurances where a car passes pre race, but fails post race.

And what emotion?  Busch was cleared of everything by Nascar for last weeks truck race.  This is about the setup of a car and not some off the track incident.

How is 150 equal to 43? 150 was a 6th place finish with no bonuses. 43 is a 1st place finish before bonuses. They aren't equal. 35-40 points is closer to the old system.

And sruffy, you don't like Kyle Busch after he was speeding. Now you are ok with him? Make up your mind.
This is what you don't get.  I don't like Bush for speeding and I don't like Childress for being a criminal.  It is called consistency based upon issues, rather than blindly choosing a side and sticking with regardless of right and wrong.  So yes Busch should have been arrested for sure, but how does that affect this entirely separate incident?  It smacks of Childress (who really runs NASCAR as the lack of suspension proves) retaliation.  The car passed pre-race inspection right?  What changed?  Logic is dead unfortunately, and emotion rules.  Sad.

I agree with you, on that, if they would do that, it might cut down on the ones that push the envelope on their cars.

I wonder how much Childress paid for this "result".  We kmow he hates laws and rules and prefers violence.

Let's see they took 150 points from Bowyer last year which would be equal to about 43 points this year and the his crew chief was suspended for 5 weeks including fines for everyone.

I really am not sure about this process.  They do a prerace inspection.  He must have passed that inspection.  How is taking a car across country to inspect it going to change anything?  They need to have the final inspection on site.  I just do not trust the ship an then inspect process.  If it is out by hundredths of an inch how can they say the shipping process doesn't change anything?

they should do like most local tracks do when you are caught illegal, disqualify him, take his points, money and if he is caught again it is a 2 week suspension, that would stop all the "pushing the envelope" as they say.
