By Pete Pistone

A group of NASCAR drivers including five-time champion Jimmie Johnson have been invited to attend a reception at the White House with President Barack Obama next week. Johnson in addition to NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France as well as Clint Bowyer, Carl Edwards, Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Kurt Busch, Jeff Gordon and Matt Kenseth were extended the invitation for the visit on Wednesday, September 7th.

However five drivers have declined to make the trip - Biffle, Kurt Busch, Edwards, Harvick and Stewart - all citing "scheduling conflicts" according to a press release.

MoonshineRunner... with every sentence you show more and more ignorance, if that's possible.

"Useless health care that will never come to fruition" - Really?  People can no longer be dropped from their policies for pre-existing conditions.  Children can now stay on parents' policy to age 26.  Insurance companies now have to disclose how much of premium payments go to actual health care, etc.

"Tougher EPA regulation" - uhh, yeah.  In case you haven't been reading the news (can you even read?) corporations are polluting at record rates, and more and more cutting of corners when it comes to safety has increased the risk of environmental disaster.  You do remember what happened in the Gulf of Mexico, don't you?  Do you trust BP, or any other oil company, to regulate themselves?  You are dumber than I thought.

"You can look to Wall Street as confirmation to all of the above" - Wall St. is in the toilet right now because of all the crap that happened BEFORE Obama was elected president.  I know it's hard, but stay with me here.  The market collapsed in September, 2008 because of massive over-levereging by the big investment banks, and because the ratings companies were giving AAA ratings to junk investments, and because there was almost no regulation of credit default swaps, derivatives and the mortgage industry.  Oh, and the investment banks were manipulating the market, and betting against the same investments they were happy to sell to their clients.  The market is still recovering from that mess.

I'm sure this is much to hard for you to understand, so I'll stop now.  But the next time you want to weigh in on the state of the nation, please do yourself a favor and just turn on the Speed Network and watch the replay of the most recent NASCAR race.

The invite is for the Chase contenders from last  year, so if he is fortunate enough to make this chase this year he will get an invite after this season.

Who else in the history of Nascar has ever turned down an invitation from one of the other presidents? Come on this is the president of the United States no matter his race, background, religion none of that, you are too busy for the president of your own country? For real, are serious guys? I want to believe these guys really can't make it for whatever reasons, but I just can't be that naive.
